MongoTrader Is on the App Store: Trade, Compete and Build From Your iPhone

Published August 13, 2026 · MongoTrader Team

MongoTrader is now a native iPhone app. Same account, same real-time markets, same leagues and algorithms — plus home-screen widgets, push notifications, and a guest mode so you can try it before you sign up. Here's what's in it and how to get started.

The MongoTrader iOS app is live on the App Store, and it's a free download. It isn't a cut-down companion to the web app. It's the full product: real-time quotes across the same ten asset classes, the same order types, the same leagues and leaderboards, and the same algorithm builder. If you already trade on the web, sign in with the email and password you use today and pick up exactly where you left off. If you're new, you can open the app and start trading as a guest without creating an account at all.

One account, the same markets

Everything in the app runs against the same account and the same real-time market data as app.mongotrader.com. Your portfolios, positions, open orders, $MON balance, league entries and algorithms are all there the moment you sign in. Place a trade on your phone and it shows up on the web. Enter a league from your desk and it's waiting in the Leagues tab on your iPhone.

That matters more than it sounds. Plenty of mobile trading apps quietly run a separate product with fewer order types, a slower feed, or a reduced set of markets. MongoTrader on iOS trades the same stocks, crypto, options, ETFs, REITs, ADRs, mutual funds, forex, indices and futures as the web app, with the same market, limit, stop, stop-limit, trailing stop and market-on-close orders. Short selling and leverage work the same way. If a portfolio has Friction (realistic mode) switched on, it stays on. Nothing is simplified for the smaller screen.

What's in the app

The app is organized into eight tabs, and each one maps directly to a part of the platform you already know from the web:

If you build automated strategies, the Algorithms tab is worth a look on its own. The ten built-in templates — DCA, rebalancing, momentum, mean reversion, moving-average crossover, Bollinger Bands, RSI divergence, pairs trading, VWAP, and the External API template — are all there, and because it's the same account, trades placed by an agent through the REST API show up in the app alongside everything else.

Try it as a guest first

You don't need an account to start. Open the app, continue as a guest, and you get a working portfolio against live markets straight away. Trade for a while, look around, and decide whether the platform is for you before you hand over an email address.

When you're ready, upgrade the guest account to a full free account. Your portfolio, trades and history come with you — nothing is reset and nothing is lost. A full account is what unlocks the rest: league entry, daily $MON, algorithms, and signing in on the web with the same credentials. If you've been on the fence about paper trading, this is the lowest-friction way to find out whether it's useful to you.

Widgets that stay in sync

Two home-screen widgets ship with the app, built on WidgetKit:

Both stay in sync with the app, so a watchlist you edit on the web or in the Watchlists tab is the same watchlist on your home screen. If you're in an hourly league and want to keep half an eye on things between trades, the portfolio widget is the simplest way to do it.

Notifications for the things that matter

Push notifications cover four kinds of events, and none of them are noise:

Order-fill notifications are the one most traders end up relying on. A resting limit order is only useful if you act on it when it fills, and on the web that means keeping a tab open. On the phone it means a notification. As with any iOS app, you control which notifications you receive from your iPhone's settings.

Wallet: subscriptions and withdrawals

Two things involving money work directly in the app.

Subscriptions. Premium and Max can be bought in-app with Apple in-app purchase. Free stays free, with full trading access across every asset class, league entry, one active algorithm and 3 $MON a day. Premium adds market research tools, three active algorithms, 10 $MON a day, and an ad-free experience. Max takes you to 15 active algorithms and 30 $MON a day with priority features.

Withdrawals. MongoTrader runs USD cash-prize leagues for verified US players. If you've won USD in one of them, you can withdraw those winnings to PayPal from the Wallet tab. Every withdrawal requires a two-factor code, which is the right trade-off for the one place in the app where real money leaves your account. You can read more about how cash-prize leagues work on the learn site.

The small things

A few details that make the app feel like it belongs on the phone rather than a website wrapped in a shell:

Getting started

If you have an account, download the app and sign in with your usual email and password. If you don't, download it and tap through as a guest, then upgrade when you're ready. Either way, the leagues page is the best first stop: pick an open league, enter it, and you've got a live scoreboard to trade against from your pocket.

The full platform, in your pocket

Real-time markets, real order mechanics, simulated money, free-to-enter skill-based leagues, and an algorithm builder — on the web and on your iPhone, with one account.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a separate account for the iOS app?

No. The iOS app uses the same account and the same real-time markets as the web app. Sign in with the email and password you already use and your portfolios, orders, leagues, $MON balance and algorithms are all there.

Can I try the app without creating an account?

Yes. Guest mode lets you trade against live markets without signing up. When you're ready, upgrade the guest account to a full free account and your portfolio comes with you — nothing is reset.

Can I withdraw cash-league winnings from the app?

Yes. USD winnings from cash-prize leagues can be withdrawn to PayPal from the Wallet tab. Every withdrawal requires a two-factor code.
